Meet the new VMware vExperts for 2012

All the submissions are in and have been processed and the new vExperts of 2012 have been announced. I am very fortunate and honored to have been awarded vExpert for 2012. This is in recognition for all of the work I do in the VMware Community, and behind the scenes, and across the globe. So who else is on the list, why should you care, and how do you get to be on the list yourself?

It is extremely nice to be one among such a distinguished group. If you’d like to know who all the vExperts are for 2012 the final list can be obtained from the following location:

So what is vExpert all about then? Well it is and award in recognition for significant contribution to the VMware community. So it is not a certification, it is not awarded because I passed a test or defense, it is awarded based on actual significant community contribution, quality effort and results, above and beyond your day job. The vExpert Directory as the full description of what it is and how you get it. Here is how it is described at the top of the directory page:

“The annual VMware vExpert title is given to individuals who have significantly contributed to the community of VMware users over the past year. The title is awarded to individuals (not employers) for their commitment to sharing their knowledge and passion for VMware technology above and beyond their job requirements.”

You can find my VMware vExpert 2012 entry in the VMware vExpert Directory.

For me it’s great recognition for the work I do in public, and also the work I do behind the scenes that many customers all around the world hugely benefit from. I would say this is common for a lot of my peers who work with VMware technology, especially those of the vExpert Ranks that are also VMware employees and contractors. Duncan Epping argues that all VMware Employees should be vExperts (by nature if not by title) by being an evangelist for the VMware Technology and the company, and I agree 100%. VMware is a great company, has a great team, and provides some great technology that their customers benefit from hugely.

Final Word

Congratulations to all the other vExperts for their hard work and contributions. I look forward to meeting a lot of you throughout the course of 2012 and beyond.
